The Havana-Detroit Jazz Project is a creation of Chris Collins and the Detroit Jazz Festival in cooperation with 7-time GRAMMY-nominated Cuban composer, pianist and bandleader. The core band includes Omar Sosa on piano, Chris Collins on multi-reeds; Amaury Acosta on drums; Ernesto Mazar Kindelán on bass, Octavio Rodriquez Jr. on percussion, and Chuck Newsome on guitar. The band will be augmented for this year's DJF by a horn section assembled by Chris Collins.
