Emma Lee Aboukasm is an award-winning, Detroit-based recording artist, vocalist, pianist, and composer. As a recent 2019 graduate of the Jazz & Contemporary Music at the University of Michigan, she is performing in a variety of venues, ranging from intimate venues like the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe to expansive stages like the Detroit Jazz Festival. Emma is on the vanguard of contemporary music in the heart of metro-Detroit.
In this group, Aboukasm is joined by Jordan Anderson on piano, David Ward on drums and Aidan Cafferty on bass. All of these extremely talented musicians also attended the University of Michigan, where they all met and played together frequently. The music they present in this performance approach jazz with a modern twist to classic standards, creative jazz-like arrangements of classic rock music and even some original compositions by Emma Aboukasm. Join us for a wonderful evening of compelling music from young lions pushing the boundaries of jazz!
